About Paisley Daisy

Paisley Daisy is the creation of Sophie Beale, graduate in BA (Hons) Costume for the Screen and Stage.
Her skills gained in design, sewing and craft have been translated into something more accessible, offering a unique collection of original textile homeware produced solely by her own hand. This exciting range of bespoke and extremely limited edition pieces is constantly evolving by using a vast range of locally and internationally sourced fabric, combining rare vintage finds such as dresses, scarves and household linens with carefully selected contemporary pieces.

The outcome is rich in colour and pattern with designs heavily influenced by the eclectic and vivid styles of the mid to late 20th Century. Visions of sharpness from 50's and 60's design and the romance of late 60's and 70's life style are seen through out, yet the products retain a distinct modern edge. The theme of contrast is also a strong influence- mixing the past and present, the natural and unnatural, shapes and colours. Throughout the collections the bold and striking sit comfortably next to the soft and subtle.

These unique pieces are a welcome change to the impersonal mass made products found on the high street with each item carrying its own description of where its contents are sourced, and by recycling and refreshing the old, the products carry a green element, helping to cut down on production of unnecessary new materials. As Paisley Daisy progresses this element is further investigated and integrated into the design and production process, with many products now being up to 100% recycled (apart from the thread)!

Paisley Daisy's early products were first tested on market stalls, with the initial range relying heavily on the 'Beg for Red' theme.

The retro styles where incorporated later, coming quite naturally as something of a passion for the designer.

The ideas have developed greatly, with recent products being displayed in craft shops and an exhibition at Quay Arts, the centre of arts and culture on the Isle of Wight, where Paisley Daisy is currently based.
